Quality Time With God
Quality Time With God
Luk 10:38-42
Our fellowship with God is something we must guard and bring to the next level. Because without it, we know that everything we do is in vain (1 Cor 15:58). That's why we must stay connected to God by ensuring the continuous presence of His word and Spirit's work in our life. We must make sure that the flow of living water in our life keeps increasing until it becomes a river that cannot be forded.
Several signs of disruption in someone's fellowship with God are:
1. Irritability
From the word "I'm very busy", I received the understanding that the person is irritable.
When someone starts to lose their personal relationship/fellowship with God, they will be very easily disturbed by their surroundings (condition, circumstances, people). That's why the person could easily become angry, hurt, and exhausted. Even minuscule things could explode them. The person starts to be irritated by things that in normal circumstances - while having a healthy relationship with God - wouldn't be a problem for them.
Many unwanted things happen in church are caused by a handful of irritable people who are losing their personal fellowship with God.
2. Anxious
Many simple things could make the person very worryful, fearful and anxious, almost like they have no faith or hope. This is caused by the disrupted or even severed personal relationship with God.
The anxiety causes many problems and illnesses. It often conditions someone to react negatively towards every news and experiences being heard.
3. Easy to put blame on others
Those whose personal relationship with God are disrupted or severed will be easy to blame others - they could even blame God! They must evaluate themselves and meditate on the next steps towards self-healing. Without healing, their inaccuracy will be used by the enemy to keep blaming and hurting others who are interacting with them.
4. Feeling lonely or being abandoned
We could even feel lonely in the midst of a crowd. We could even feel left alone without anyone's care in the midst of our ministry. When this feeling rose and we have no power to overcome it, it signifies that our personal relationship with God is being disrupted.
Even someone at the caliber of Elijah experienced feeling of abandonment when his relationship with God is disrupted. It even happened straight after Elijah killed hundreds of Baal prophets (1 Kings 19:9-18).
So, how do we restore our relationship with God?
1. Repent and have determination
Realize that outside of God we can do nothing.
John 15:5 (NASB) I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
2. Make time to sit under the feet of the Lord and fill ourselves again with the word.
This is the decision for us to once again seek God's face to restore our relationship with Him.
3. Start to establish an accurate priority scale
Choosing our best portion will prevent the enemy from stealing what is ours. If we choose the best, nothing will be lost from us. The best that we choose will never be lost - God will even add upon it.
Start to prioritize God in everything and don't make ourselves busy with unnecessary matters.
4. Enter a deeper place.
Many people are easily satisfied in their relationship with God when their tears drop, when feeling goosebumps and many other sensations. However, God wants us to enter deeper into His presence. By entering that place, our result will be maximum.
Peter's story in Luke 5:1-11 told how he was transformed when he departed into a deeper place; becoming fisher of man, not a fisherman. The same goes for us; we will not only be successful and blessed abundantly, but God will bring us to function as His Temple on earth, to bring transformation for mankind. Our relationship with God must not stop at blessings, but until we enter deeper to reach His heart?s desires.
Ezekiel 47:1-12
Every spiritual journey must be continued; we must not be satisfied at a certain level. As long as we have the chance, the divine life God has given must increase, not decrease. The same goes for our spiritual water level; we must not be satisfied when it reaches our ankles or even loins. It?s true that we feel something amazing, but God wants us to become a great river for many others. Through our life, the living water could be shared with so many people. For that to happen, we must stretch our spiritual capacity.
So, our relationship with God must not be shallow. Enter a deeper place.
Through the enlargement of our capacity, God will enable us to function as His Temple on earth. Our relationship with God must rise into a new level. More than only touching His blessings and provisions, we will touch the nations. #iLoveGod (Ps. Steven Agustinus)
