I could increasingly feel the urgent need of a stronger and enlarged spirit capacity to win in struggling against the rulers of the air in this nation. Because in fact, whatever is happening over this nation starts in the spirit world. If we do not have the spirit capacity like Paul's and the other faith heroes', it will be extremely difficult for us to disciple the nation.
Spirit capacity is closely related to faith and the Holy Spirit. Without faith, we could never overcome the world. While without the Holy Spirit, we will never know about God's pre-ordained ways. Faith & the ways of God are essential when we are battling/struggling against the rulers, authorities, principalities over a nation.
What becomes my question is: how do we increase our spirit capacity and power? Is it through reading more of the word, or through more frequent fasting? Or to pray longer? It turns out that all of them doesn't guarantee the increase of our spirit capacity and might. For many people who do exactly that becomes weaker and more religious instead.
What determines our spirit's capacity enlargement is Holy Spirit Himself. He is the best coach of our spirit man, given by God. Every day He always have a training regime for our spirit man. His training is sometimes non-standard, unpredictable, but could also be highly intense and packed in schedule. In essence, Holy Spirit's ways of applying training is highly personalised, but it is always in accord to the principles of God's word.
When I came to understand the above discussion, my motivation rose to do the following:
1. I give myself to the Holy Spirit so He could re-train my spirit man according to His will.
Sometimes without knowing, our spiritual activities have been scheduled according to our will. We rarely ask what Holy Spirit wants to do all day, while He is the One who supposedly decides the 'training method' of our spirit man. Therefore, we have to surrender ourselves before Him to be led according to His will.
When we give ourselves, that's the moment when our spiritual senses' sensitivity and conscience's voice increase in function - we could hear it clearly. Holy Spirit's directions in dictating us will become increasingly real. Our part is to OBEY. When we obey, then that's the moment our spirit man's capacity is enlarged. The more we obey, the more we will get stronger and mightier.
Our biggest challenge at this point is our routine and comfort zone. Because it is very likely for Holy Spirit to wake us up at 3 in the morning to pray. It is also very likely for Him to ask us to pull an all-nighter to pray. Or else, He could also nag and remind us to read the Bible once an hour every day. All of them requires obedience. But truly, when we have given ourselves, the enabling grace for us to obey has been given!
2. Be active in aligning ourselves with the frequency carried by the Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit is a real individual and He is our spirit man's coach. He desires for us to carry an attitude of heart full of truth, peace and joy every day. This is the barometer of our spirit man's condition that God will use when training us.
His Spirit will urge us every morning to immediately condition ourselves aligned to His frequency (truth, peace and joy). He will urge us to pray fervently until His reality surrounds our heart. Usually Holy Spirit will deliberately use our sleepiness to train us. What we need to do is simply OBEY. Don't defend our rights to live in comfort. The faster we give up that right, the faster we will receive the flow of life we need to enlarge our spirit capacity. That's the spiritual 'nutrition' our spirit man needs.
3. Beware of the enemy's attack by having a joyful heart.
I will stay alert in all situation and circumstances. The enemy will always try to steal our peace and joy through everything. But keep calm. This is part of the training allowed by the Holy Spirit. Just stay alert and push back every enemy's attempt to attack. Face them with a victor's mentality. Keep praying in tongues, declaring God's word, and prophesy - these will help us in stabilising and calming our emotion. The enemy will start to lose their ways into our lives.
4. Keep praying for the nation with a fiery heart.
Praying for this nation with sincerity will enlarge our spirit man's capacity. It will also swallow every power of death upon this nation in victory. I will ask the Holy Spirit to keep giving me the ability to detect this nation's spiritual atmosphere every day. I will also act to always cleanse, guard, and flow peace into the existing atmosphere. I believe this is part of the capacity enlargement training.
I believe, if we persevere in doing these trainings, the nation we are praying for will experience healing from God. #iLoveGod (Ps. Steven Agustinus)
