Father Will Give More Until Abundance

Daily Devotion

The days are passing by very quickly. The end of the year 2016 is at hand. There is one verse seemingly speaking in my heart over and over as a guidance for the year to come:
Mat 13:12 (NASB)  For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.
Clearly explained in the above verse, if I truly 'have', then God will make what I 'have' as an 'initial capital' before He gives me much more. In turn, if I 'don't have', then whatever I assume to 'already have' will be 'taken from me' at the end - completely lost.
From this understanding, Holy Spirit guided me to ask a few things to the Father, because He has promised that if we 'don't have' what we are supposed to have, then we may ask from Him, and whatever we ask, the Father will give (Mat 7:7-11).

1. Ask for a heart hungry and thirsty of GOD - a heart blazing with first love
From all that I have read in the Bible, God never gave 'exceptional demands' to His chosen people and His children. He only asks us to love Him with all our heart, soul and strength (Deut 6:5, Mat 22:37-40). In our day-to-day life, however, we often let our heart to turn away from Him, going back to the love of the world, self and money.
By letting our heart turning away from God and loving the world and everything in it, without knowing we are positioning ourselves to be an 'enemy of God' (James 4:4) - a very unfavourable position indeed! The enemy will easily destroy our lives. Therefore, it is crucial to once again ask for a heart that is ever-blazing with the first love towards the Father. By 'having' a heart that loves God, He will give us more Godly things we need in living a kingdom life on this earth.

2. Ask for a meek, teachable, mouldable, and changable heart
God has given His servants a command to start focusing on building the people's heart attitude, fundamental convictions and lifestyle.
From the three aspects above, what we need outright is the heart attitude. Therefore, we need to ask Father to give us a meek, teachable, mouldable and changeable heart. To have accurate convictions and Godly lifestyle, a fundamental change needs to happen first - a drastic and dramatic change!
Naturally, however, most people don't like change - they prefer to stay within their comfort zone. That's the reason, before God could 'add until abundance', we need a meek, teachable, mouldable, and changeable spirit as our 'initial capital'. If for so long we truly don't have it, then ask the Father who will give all the best to His children.

3. Ask for the spirit of prayer
As servants of God, our life's priority should be prayer and the word (Acts 6:1-4). However, for so long the enemy has succeed in diverting the focus of numerous servants of God. Many of God's servants are instead busying themselves with many things. They don't want to 'pray too much' to avoid being labelled as a religious pastor. While in truth, prayer is believers' breath of life. At the level of church members, believers should become a prayer warrior - moreover those who are leaders!
Spiritual leaders who no longer live in the spirit of prayer will have no difference with leaders of the secular world. They will easily slip into chasing power, riches and personal enjoyment.
The higher a leader's position and reputation, the more they have to live in the grasp of the spirit of prayer. That's the reason why, if we as leaders start to 'pray seldomly' or taking prayer as something 'supplementary' in life, it means that we should ask God to once again give us the spirit of prayer.
If we have a role in ministry but no longer have the spirit of prayer, whatever we do is in fact no more than a work routine, which doesn't have any life and impact. Ask the spirit of prayer from the Father and live once again in its grasp.

4. Ask for a victorious, authoritative, impactful & powerful spiritual position.
If the church doesn't have such spiritual position, the church will automatically lose its true function; to be the salt and light of the world. Church becomes no more than a religious institute which increasingly lose its relevance to society. Instead of becoming salt and light of the world, church keeps on 'building walls' against the surrounding society. Church fails to become a solution to communities, cities and nations. Numerous people who call themselves as church are instead becoming a 'source of trouble' to their surrounding.
As God's church, we must 'have' a victorious, authoritative, impactful & powerful spiritual position. If we don't 'have' it, then everything we 'thought we had' will be 'taken' from us. Therefore, we should start 'asking' the Father so He will start giving us a victorious, authoritative, impactful & powerful spiritual position. By 'starting to have', Father will automatically 'add unto us until abundance'. #iLoveGod (Ps. Steven Agustinus)
