The Hidden Treasure

The Hidden Treasure

~ Mat 13:44-46 (NASB)  "The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field."

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it."

~ Col 2:2-3 (NASB)  that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and attaining to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God's mystery, that is, Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

~ Prov 2:1-5 (NKJV)  My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you,
So that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding;
Yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding,
If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures;
Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

~ Phil 3:10 (NASB)  that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death

From the above verses, I received understanding about the hidden treasure and the precious pearl as follow:

1. They are talking about Christ Himself.
2. They are talking about His word.
3. About the reality of His presence.
4. The knowledge of God.
5. Things that are divine and eternal.
6. His plan and His will.
7. The power of resurrection.

I observe that there are only two choices in our daily life: pursuing after humanistic things or pursuing after godly things; interacting with heavenly dimensions or with evil and worldly spirits. Doing sin or doing truth. Doing God's will or doing our own will. Chasing after Mammon or chasing after God.
All the choices above demand complete dedication. Meaning that if we choose to pursue and do worldly things, then the world will demand the totality our body, soul and spirit. The effect could be massive; the body could be destroyed, the mind could be moulded so worldly, and the spirit could be so unclean. We might achieve 'success', but the abyss of destruction will be the end of our journey. Many people usually choose this to only gain treasures of vanity.
The same goes when we pursue after the Hidden Treasure or the precious pearl that is Christ; it demands our full dedication in heart, soul and strength. Without focusing 100% in doing His will, then it is impossible for us to get Him?. If our hearts still contain the love of this world, the love of self, and the love of money, then God will never straighten our life?s path to acquire Christ. If we do not ?acquire? Christ, then our life as believers will never bring in His Kingdom?s reality and impact.

Then what is the concrete action to pursue after the Hidden Treasure and to purchase the precious pearl that is Christ?
It is to use our power of decision-making to choose doing profitable and constructive things only.
In our daily life, what we pursue after is very much evident. If we don?t have time for a living relationship with God, it signifies that we haven?t seen the precious pearl, left alone bought it (by doing something increasingly self-sacrificial for Him). It is simply impossible!
If we choose our hobby or job more than worship meetings, it shows that we are yet to desire purchasing the land and pearl. If we prefer watching TV rather than lingering on His presence, it shows that we are not daring enough to pay the price (still having many considerations and wanting to keep living on own terms).
I was made to realise that buying that ?precious pearl? is talking about a daily lifestyle that has been aligned to the truth of the word. It is by ourselves ensuring that the reality of His presence and word becoming increasingly real and gripping our hearts stronger by the day, regardless of whatever life condition we have. In essence, never stop praying and reading the word before something happens in our hearts.
I made a commitment to always be vigilant of my daily lifestyle, and to replace every activity that are not profitable with the meditation and declaration of the word. I believe, such life will manifest the best heart soil and it will bear fruits of the kingdom. #iLoveGod (Ps. Steven Agustinus)
